On 7-8 July 2021, Lithuania jointly with Ukraine will host Ukraine Reform Conference (URC) in Vilnius.
It will be the fourth Ukraine Reform Conference following such forums in London (2017), Copenhagen (2018) and Toronto (2019). This year’s URC is expected to be built on the experience and success of the previous conferences.
The upcoming Ukraine Reform Conference will take place in a complex period for Ukraine, close to one year after highly anticipated presidential and parliamentary elections. With the appointment of the Cabinet of Ministers in late summer of 2019, ambitious reform initiatives and the new Government Program were adopted. It prompted both support and high expectations in the society. Simultaneously, Ukraine’s efforts to reinvigorate peace talks on Donbas as well as address economic rehabilitation and humanitarian issues have an additional impact on the reforms process.
URC will provide the opportunity for Ukraine to present concrete achievements as well as policy objectives beyond 2021, which is a necessity in order to maintain the Ukrainian reforms supporters’ robust engagement. Close dialogue with the civil society and business plays a significant role on this course.
Taking into account complexity of the agenda, which Ukraine is facing in the period leading to URC 2021, this year’s conference will provide the opportunity for high-level participants to exchange views on Ukraine’s reforms process and its sustainability beyond 2021.
